At Nirvana Physiotherapy, our expert Physiotherapist will speak to you about what may have caused your spinal problem, any other medical issues you may have, and any possible factors contributing to your ongoing pain. They then perform a thorough assessment so that they can give you a diagnosis and explanation of what is causing your pain. Following your assessment, your physio will put together a treatment plan that suits your lifestyle and condition, and favours your outcome.
Back pain can be debilitating and can go on to become chronic if left untreated. Research has shown that physiotherapy treatments such as manipulation, mobilization and clinical pilates are beneficial both short and long term. Not only do we specialize in diagnostics, but the staff at Nirvana Physiotherapy are highly trained and practice the latest techniques while following strict guidelines to ensure you are getting the most out of your treatment while still maintaining your safety.
Physiotherapists at Nirvana have great experience working with people before and after surgery. We work closely with Orthopedic surgeons to ensure you are receiving the best possible post-operative care. Following your surgery you can expect your physio to assess you so that they can track your progress and provide you with a home exercise program completed with photos and videos to ensure you are able to complete your exercises correctly at home.
Arthritis is a common problem and many people find that the pain from arthritis limits their ability to exercise, socialise and continue doing the things they love. Most people are unaware of treatment options other than surgery and medications to manage arthritic pain. Physiotherapy has proven to reduce pain, increase function and delay the need for surgery in people with osteoarthritis.
If you have arthritis affecting one or more of your joints, the pain usually occurs when you put load through the joint (e.g. when you walk down stairs, you have five times your bodyweight going through your knees). The best way to reduce this pain is to reduce the load passing through your joint. Therefore, you either need to lose weight or strengthen the muscles that support the joint, or both! If you can strengthen the muscles they will absorb some of the load going through your joint and thus reduce your pain and help to protect the remaining cartilage. If you have arthritis in your hips, knees, feet or ankles, you may also find that orthotics, taping, or a brace helps to relieve your pain. Your physiotherapist will tell you if this may work for you. Once you are confident with your home exercises and start to feel better, you can consider joining our rehab classes.
